Siddha Peeth Maharishi Parashar Dham, the center of public faith, has been the holy abode of Maharishi Parashar. This place is situated about 13 km from Tehla and 3 km from Khoh Tibara, between the Aravalli mountain ranges. Since mythological times, it is the center of faith of saints and devotees from all over the country. A large number of people come to have darshan. Legend has it that in mythological times, to destroy the killers of Shaktimuni, the son of Maharishi Vashishtha, a demon-killing yagya was performed at today’s Parashar Dham in Khoh area. After the completion of the Yagya, he composed the Vishnu Mahapurana, all the four Vedas at this place, as well as Surya Vigyan Jyotish, Surya Ganana, at this place. Due to all these beliefs, even today this place remains the center of public faith.
1. Composition of Vishnu Purana
Maharishi Parashar Dham’s Mahant Ghanshyamdas Maharaj and according to legend and Lingpuran, it is said that when the demons started dying one by one in the Rakshasa Yagya, the demon King Pulatsay and Vashishtha Rishi came to the Yagya and urged Parashar to stop the Yagya. Maharishi Parashar was made to see his father by Tapobal and Parashar stopped the yagya. Pleased with this, Maharishi Vashishtha and Maharishi Pulatsay asked Parashara to write Vishnu Purana. Parashar imparted the knowledge of all the four Vedas, Surya Vigyan, Surya Gana Astrology etc. Maharishi Parashar composed the texts of Falit and mathematics, astrology and astronomical calculations here.
2. Cremation of Karna
Vedvyas, the author of Mahabharata, was the son of Maharishi Parashar. In the Mahabharata, he has written that Maharishi Parashara had cremated the dead body of Danveer Karna on a palm in the middle of the mountain of Khoh. Karna had a boon that his dead body should not be burnt on earth as he was the son of Lord Surya. Behind the present Parashar’s ashram, the mountain is burnt in the middle, the remains of which can be seen even at present.
3. Banyan Tree Roots
The banyan tree at the site of the demon-killer yagya is no more, but the roots of one hundred banyan trees are still present, where the demon-killer yagya was performed. The grand temple Parashar Dham has been built near the ancient waterfall falling from the mountain and the stream flowing from the pool. Rituals are held here in the month of Ashtami, Ekadashi, Purnima and Sawan.
4. Sandalwood rains in the night
Mahant Ghanshyamdas and the elders of the ashram tell that Parashar Dham is very holy apart from being the abode of sages. The remains of Rakshasa Yagya are also present here. Even at present, light yellow colored drops fall here at night, which looks like sandalwood. This view can be seen around the natural pool and on the steps of Parashar Taposthali in the early morning. The eternal flame keeps on burning in the tune of Maharishi Parashar. It is told that even at present, Maharishi Parashar Muni comes to the place of Yagya once in a year. Saints told that Lord Rama had killed Ravana in mythological times by combining the rays with the help of solar science.
